Collection: Ocean Rescue Caps

Found in the ocean. Cleaned by hand. Given a second life.

These caps weren’t made for this collection. They were recovered during shoreline clean-ups and dives along Sydney’s coastline, often lost during sailing events and regattas, then carried by wind and current into the water.

Each one tells a different story.

Collected from places like Cabbage Tree Bay, these caps are carefully cleaned, restored, and prepared to be worn again. Some show signs of their journey. Others have been remarkably preserved. All of them have been removed from the ocean where they didn’t belong.

This isn’t just about reuse.

It’s about recognising what ends up in the water, and choosing to do something about it.

What makes these different

  • Recovered during real ocean clean-ups
  • Individually cleaned and restored
  • Each cap is unique
  • A small, practical way to reduce ocean waste

Why this matters

Items like these are often mistaken for food by marine life or contribute to the growing problem of ocean debris.

Every cap in this collection represents one less piece of waste in the water, and one small step toward protecting the environments these photographs come from.
